The Choir
The Spirituals Project Choir is an important part of the spirituals story. The choir itself is made up of about seventy singers of all ages and backgrounds with varying degrees of musical experience among the members of the group.

The Spirituals Project is committed to serving as a resource center for anyone interested in learning more about the spirituals.

Multimedia Website and Oral History
The Spirituals Project is engaged in the development of a historical documentary film and multi-media educational website.

Youth Initiative
A priority of The Spirituals Project is outreach to children and youth, whose immersion in the spirituals story is central to the mission of ensuring that “the spirituals will be passed on for many generations to come.”

National Networking
The oral history initiative has opened the way to a national networking project that includes planning for future workshops and conferences with other organizations and individuals around the country who share our mission and purpose.

Visiting Artists Series
In collaboration with Augustana Arts and other community agencies, The Spirituals Project now has established an annual concert series to highlight the work of prominent artists who are working to keep the spirituals tradition alive.
